We've expanded the piece into a duet with (my favourite!!) Raffaele Brereton & added some extra microphones for dynamic, textural layers.
Interplay: noun, the way in which two or more things have an effect on each other. A collaborative work crafted by composer, Steven Webb, and choreographer, Ming-Bo Lam. Originally created as a solo work for the Composing for Dance program, through the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto, this piece evolved from Steven’s fascination with improvised interaction between a dancer, live musicians and electronics. It has since been expanded into a duet, with the focus remaining on the dancers’ ability to encompass the roles of performer, conductor, and musician.
I am so looking forward to sharing our creation - especially with Steven's re-visited composition. Showtimes & ticket info are as follow, with additional information on The Festival '17 by New Blue Emerging Dance below.
